The Churches’ Purpose is to GO
The purpose of the Church is to GO and MAKE DISCIPLES. We are to LOVE GOD with our all and LOVE OUR NEIGHBOUR, doing good to all, but especially the family of believers. As Christians live in unity, the world will know that God sent Jesus to earth. When two or three gather, Jesus is in their midst, and when they are in agreement in prayer, it will be done for them if they have remained in Jesus and his words have remained in them.
Let’s go and make disciples, teaching them to love God and their neighbour, especially fellow Christians, and to obey Jesus’ commands.
Verses referenced:
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matt 28:19-20
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ Matt 22:37-39
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. John 13:34-35
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:9-10
My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. John 17:20-23
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. John 15:7
Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. Matthew 18:19-20
